Dikatakan bambu unik dikarenakan dalam secara alamiah proses pertumbuhannya tidak normal seperti pada umumnya, baik disebabkan faktor internal maupun eksternal yang kemudian membuat secara fisik pertumbuhannya tidak normal. Lantaran bentuknya tidak normal bahkan ada yang nampak terlihat unik. Keunikan-keunikan bentuk dari bambu yang tidak normal ini yang kemudian disebut bambu unik.
